citypass-madrid.com is a multilingual comparison site for the sightseeing passes sold for Madrid. Go City issues three of them, an Essentials, an Explorer and an All-Inclusive Pass, all counted from activation with thirty days to redeem. Turbopass issues the Madrid City Pass, bought by the day, and the Madrid Flex Pass, bought by the attraction. The Paseo del Arte Card is issued by the three art museums it covers. Madrid has no municipal pass, so nothing here is official.

Madrid sorts its visitors more sharply than most cities do, and the pass question follows that split. One kind of trip is the Golden Triangle: the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen-Bornemisza within a few minutes' walk of each other, for which the museums sell a joint card of their own and nothing else is needed. The other kind takes in the Royal Palace, a stadium tour at the Bernabéu or the Metropolitano, a flamenco tablao and a panoramic bus, and that is the trip the general passes are assembled for. Working out which of the two you have booked settles most of the decision. We list what each pass contains, how it is activated, where a timed reservation is compulsory and what happens to it if your plans move.
